Kids made traditional Japanese sweets called Nerikiri in a tea ceremony class at a Japanese Saturday school.
It’s a great way for kids to experience blending Japanese traditions and American culture that they are familiar with.
At the end of the day, what stays with you is what you truly enjoy.

日本語土曜学校の茶道教室では、かぼちゃの練り切り菓子の顔と帽子をデザインし、付けるという作業がありました。顔のパーツは羊羹。
「ハロウィンは日本独特の行事ではありませんが、季節の行事を楽しむ事を茶道を通して楽しんでいただければ」と、先生。
子どもたちが楽しむように伝統を紹介することはとても大切ですね。
結局、楽しいと思うことが心に残ります。
